Lynda, our librarian, has started a Book Bingo contest. Patrons are to fill out a Bingo sheet at the desk and enter their name in a draw, for which a literary mug will be the prize. She has also started a book recommendation sheet for patrons to fill out at the counter. Lynda has also organized a “Favourite Book” display, so stop and take a look. Also on the wall, where the exit door is, you will find a game of scrabble that you can try your hand at.
Bert Smith’s photos, dating back to 1987, are being sorted through. There are thousands of photos and we will let folks know when they are ready to pick up.
We welcome Abbigail to our team of volunteers.
Already we are gearing up for Highway Clean Up on May 4th. If you can help us out, leave your name at the library and mark the day on your calendar. We would really appreciate it.
A fun read is Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty, author of Big Little Lies, that was made into a T.V. series, starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. It is a clever spoof on a high end Wellness Retreat in the countryside near Sydney, Australia. The nine strangers arrive at Tranquillum House for a 10 day Wellness Cleanse which promises spiritual, mind and body renewal. The guests all arrive with complicated, unresolved emotional problems, and are each looking for something different from their stay. It’s a pleasant read.
