HIGH RIVER, AB: National Volunteer Week runs from April 7 to 13 and the Town of High River is encouraging the community to submit their nominations for Volunteer of the Year from now until March 18.
“The ‘Stars of High River’ theme will again be used to recognize the volunteers who make a difference in the community every day,” says Kara Rusk, manager of legislative services for the Town. “Whether it’s shoveling a neighbour’s sidewalk, sitting on a board or committee, or donating their time to a local non-profit, sports team, or community group, we want to take the opportunity to publicly recognize and reward of our volunteer stars!”
Nomination forms are available now and will be accepted until March 18. All nominees will be announced via Facebook Live with Our High River’s Jody Seeley on March 19 and the Volunteer of the Year winners in each category will be announced at the Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on April 9. All community volunteers, as well as nominees are invited to attend.
Community volunteers, board and committee members who meet the following criteria are eligible for the awards:
When nominating volunteers there are five categories to choose from: youth/young adult (13-19 years), adult (20-64 years), senior (65+ years), family/group, and business. One nominee from each category will be chosen as a winner.
